48 Hours Mystery: Only Casey Knows is a CBS documentary about the Casey Anthony trial, the disappearance and death of Caylee Anthony, a 2 year old child live in Orlando, Florida who many people believe Casey thrown out the dead body of her daughter on a swamp and partied for 31 days along with having a “Beautiful Life” lettering tattoo while her little girl was rotting inside a laundry bag. The case received huge media attention in America. The succeeding trial Casey Anthony, on allegations of murder attracted even bigger coverage in nationwide and international.
Casey Anthony, who faces death punishment in case found guilty, was found not guilty of 1st-degree murder daughter. Casey was found guilty on 4 counts of giving wrong information to police authorities. Prosecutors believed Casey applied chloroform to make her daughter unconscious prior to suffocating the child with duct-tape put over her nose and mouth. Additionally, they alleged Casey placed the child’s body inside the trunk of her vehicle, however the defense reported the decaying scent wasn’t a body of a human, but trash.
The verdict shocked many legal experts as well as commentators. The poor little girl. This case is really disturbing. What disturbed me most was the fact that the suspect was the mother of the victim. Another disturbing factor was that she even managed to party for 31 days after the death of her little girl. I don't know if that is some defense mechanism, but it is totally irrational. I feel sorry for those many unsolved cases regarding child homicides. Children are precious and they should be treated with care and love – not throw them in to a swamp.
This is something really insightful…. and also a great documentary. I was heartbroken over the jury's decision on this trial. I seriously thought the mom would have been convicted off this murder and the US justice system failed me on this one. I mean, the defense attorney was smiling when the decision was read on court, and I was like "How could you be smiling? An innocent girl's life was lost here!"
I hope the girl will get the justice she deserved here, either sooner or later!
